Tyromotion integration: rehabilitation robotics via the central Maya software

By integrating Tyromotion, the Datico® LIFE HUB expands its capabilities in robot-assisted rehabilitation. What makes it special: Datico® does not connect each device individually, but the central Maya Patient Management Software from Tyromotion – the therapy documentation system through which Tyromotion consolidates its devices and additional systems.

This turns a heterogeneous therapy environment into a structured, analyzable data basis.

What is Tyromotion?

Tyromotion GmbH, based in Graz, Austria, is a manufacturer of systems for robot- and computer-assisted neurorehabilitation. The portfolio includes devices such as Amadeo (finger/hand), Diego (arm/shoulder), Pablo (functional therapy), Tymo (balance) and Myro, as well as the central software for control and documentation.

The devices support intensive, repeatable and objectively measurable therapy and generate valuable movement and performance data in the process.

Challenge: therapy data stays isolated

Equipment-assisted therapy delivers precise results – but these often remain within the respective systems. For a continuous clinical workflow, a standards-based and ideally bidirectional exchange is decisive: from placing the order through therapy to documentation and further analysis.

The Datico® solution: integration via Maya and the Device Connector

The integration is realized via the central Maya Patient Management Software, which is connected to the Device Connector of the Datico® LIFE HUB. Maya acts as an upstream system that consolidates the Tyromotion devices as well as additional systems – such as strength equipment from HUR.

A first version of the integration has already been realized via a direct interface. Tyromotion and Datico® are currently developing, in close coordination, a bidirectional FHIR interface that will enable a very extensive exchange of data and results between Maya and the Datico® LIFE HUB.

The integration follows the thread of the Datico® Data Value Chain: data is connected (Data in Connection), transformed into insights (Data in Context), made available in an understandable way (Data in Communication) and managed in a privacy-compliant and vendor-independent manner (Data in Consistency).

Added value through analysis

The real benefit comes from combined analysis. Because the integration runs via the central Maya software, the data of several systems is available in a bundled form in the Datico® LIFE HUB – Tyromotion devices as well as connected third-party systems.

On this basis, trends can be analyzed, progress tracked across the entire course of treatment, and results compared with stored reference values. This turns individual therapy sessions into a solid, trend-capable basis for decisions.

Application in practice

A first project was realized at the Neurological Rehabilitation Center Rosenhügel in Vienna. There, Tyromotion was connected to the Datico® LIFE HUB in a first version via a direct interface.

On this basis, the integration is now being developed further together – toward a bidirectional FHIR interface via the Maya software, which will make the data exchange significantly more extensive and standards-based.

Relevance for clinics and neurological rehabilitation

For clinics and neurological rehabilitation facilities, such an integration is particularly valuable: robot-assisted therapy provides key metrics on function, progress and resilience. When these results are merged in a structured way in the Datico® LIFE HUB and embedded into existing clinical processes, therapy progress can be documented more objectively and assessed across disciplines.

This is exactly where the Datico® Clinical Impact module comes in: intelligently connecting clinical data and improving therapy outcomes.

Conclusion

The integration of Tyromotion shows how robot-assisted rehabilitation can be integrated into an overarching data platform via a central therapy documentation system. Via the Maya software and the Device Connector – in future through a bidirectional FHIR interface – therapy data fits into the Datico® LIFE HUB and is merged there with additional parameters.

This turns individual therapy results into a solid basis for decisions – a consistent step toward Better Data. Better Decisions. Better Outcomes.

Frequently asked questions

Are Tyromotion systems compatible with the Datico® LIFE HUB?
Yes. The integration is not realized directly at the individual devices, but via Tyromotion's central Maya Patient Management Software, which is connected to the Device Connector of the Datico® LIFE HUB. Through Maya, the Tyromotion devices as well as additional systems can be integrated centrally.
How is Tyromotion data connected to the Datico® LIFE HUB?
Datico® does not connect each device individually but the central Maya software as an upstream therapy documentation system. Via the Device Connector, the data and results consolidated there are passed to the Datico® LIFE HUB and further processed.
Is there a FHIR interface between Tyromotion and Datico®?
A first version of the integration has already been realized via a direct interface. Tyromotion and Datico® are currently developing, in close coordination, a bidirectional FHIR interface that will enable a very extensive exchange of data and results between the Maya software and the Datico® LIFE HUB.
Which devices and systems can be integrated via Maya?
Via the Maya software, Tyromotion devices such as Amadeo, Diego, Pablo, Tymo and Myro can be integrated. In addition, systems from other manufacturers can be connected – for example strength equipment from HUR. The specific compatibility is verified within each project.
For which facilities is the integration particularly relevant?
The integration is particularly relevant for clinics, rehabilitation centers and neurological rehabilitation facilities that use robot- and equipment-assisted therapy and want to document and further process their therapy data centrally.
Does the Datico® LIFE HUB replace Tyromotion's Maya software?
No. The Datico® LIFE HUB does not replace Maya but complements the solution. Maya remains the central therapy documentation system on the Tyromotion side. The Datico® LIFE HUB handles the overarching merging, analysis and forwarding of the data together with additional data sources.
What kind of analysis does Datico® enable with Tyromotion data?
The Datico® LIFE HUB enables trend analyses, the combination with additional clinical and functional parameters, and the comparison with stored reference values. This turns individual therapy sessions into a solid basis for data-driven decisions in neurological rehabilitation.
