WEBINAR · IN PRACTICE: SKI AUSTRIA × DATICO
When equipment makes the difference: object and equipment management in elite sport – the Ski Austria example
Skis, grinds, edges, wax: how the Ski Manager in the Datico® LIFE HUB links equipment to athlete, competition and conditions – and what other sports can learn from it. A joint webinar by Ski Austria and Datico®.
In elite sport, performance depends not only on the athlete but often on the equipment: the ski, the grind, the edge, the wax. But which combination really worked best under which conditions? At Ski Austria, this question is no longer answered by experience alone. For several years, the technology department led by Michael Gufler has worked with Datico® as its official technology partner.
In this webinar, Michael Gufler (Ski Austria) and Markus Stadler (Datico®) show together for the first time what this collaboration looks like – from the requirements of a top-level federation to the concept behind an application technicians use every day.
1. The partnership first-hand. Which questions does Ski Austria’s technology department want to answer – and how was the Datico® LIFE HUB introduced step by step, from cross-country skiing and biathlon to ski jumping and the alpine disciplines?
2. The optimum in the triangle. Athlete, competition with its conditions, and equipment: why the best equipment can only be found reliably when all three factors come together in one data foundation.
3. Objects: equipment as its own data type. In the Datico® LIFE HUB, a ski is not a line in a list but an object with its own history: grinds, edges, wax, tests. Each object is linked to athletes, training sessions, competitions, ski and wax tests, and weather and snow conditions. This makes it possible to trace which equipment delivered which results under which conditions. Such an end-to-end link between equipment, events and athletes is rare on the market.
4. The Ski Manager’s application concept. Developed jointly, the Ski Manager is now a central application at Ski Austria and is being rolled out discipline by discipline. We explain at a conceptual level how it works: which questions it answers, which information it brings together and how it fits into technicians’ workflows.
5. How a federation works with Datico®. Ski Austria has very specific requirements. The Datico® LIFE HUB serves as the platform on which they are turned into dedicated applications – without building software from scratch. We show how this works together: from the idea to implementation and rollout.
6. Your equipment, your objects. What the ski is for Ski Austria is the bike or skinsuit in cycling, the boat in rowing and canoeing, the runner in bobsleigh and luge, the shoe in athletics and the prosthesis in para sport. Wherever equipment influences performance, the principle applies. We show how your federation can benefit.
Followed by time for your questions – to Ski Austria and to Datico®.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Sports federations, Olympic training centres and performance centres, professional teams, technology and equipment managers, and coaches – in every sport where equipment influences performance.
