The Datico® LIFE HUB is not just a data platform – it is an open, structured data source for all external systems that are authorised to access health and performance data. The Smart API is the standardised interface for this: a REST API with full Swagger documentation, giving any external system authorised access to the LIFE HUB data foundation.
Datico® itself uses this interface for its own products: The Datico® LIFE APP and the Health & Performance Workplace both access the LIFE HUB backend via the Smart API. What Datico® builds with it – customers and developers can use in exactly the same way.
Each API connection receives exclusively the data permissions that have been explicitly assigned to it via the roles & rights management.

The Datico® LIFE APP and the Health & Performance Workplace are themselves connected to the LIFE HUB via the Smart API. Customers and developers can use the same capabilities to build their own frontends, portals, mobile apps, or intranet solutions.
Fully customer-specific, with their own design and their own logic – the LIFE HUB delivers the data, the frontend shapes the experience.
AI and ML Applications
AI models and machine learning pipelines access structured health and performance data via the Smart API – for pattern recognition, predictive models, anomaly detection, and data-driven recommendations.
Large Language Models (LLMs) can also query data specifically via the Smart API to generate context-aware analyses, reports, or recommendations.
Security
No access without authorisation.
The Smart API opens data – but not for everyone and not everything. Every API connection is bound to the roles and rights management of the LIFE HUB. What an app, a script, or an AI model may read is determined exclusively by the LIFE HUB administrator.
Role-Based Permissions
Each API connection receives its own access key. The role and rights management of the LIFE HUB precisely defines which datasets, which parameters, and which persons can be retrieved via this key. A connection can never read more data than it is permitted.
Encrypted & Audited
All API requests are TLS-encrypted. Every data access is comprehensively logged in the LIFE HUB audit trail – who accessed which data at what time is fully traceable. GDPR compliance is not an add-on, but a fundamental principle.
Fully Documented
The Swagger documentation of the Smart API lists all available endpoints, parameters, data types, and return formats. Developers can try out the API directly in the interactive documentation without having to set up their own integration environment.
