KIS Connector
From the Datico® LIFE HUB directly into your hospital information system – findings, evaluations, therapy progressions, and combined measurement results exactly where they are needed in the clinical workflow.
Data in Communication
The LIFE HUB as an interoperability platform.
In everyday clinical practice, data is generated in many places – in diagnostic devices, therapy systems, questionnaires, and wearables. This data flows into the Datico® LIFE HUB, is evaluated, contextualized, and transformed into structured insights. With the KIS Connector, these insights leave the LIFE HUB again – targeted and structured, into the systems where clinical decisions are made: into the hospital information system and into the electronic patient record.
Particularly for devices and measurement systems that have no native HIS interface, the LIFE HUB takes on the role of the interoperability platform: it consolidates, normalizes, and delivers – in the format the target system expects.
Devices without a native HIS interface (e.g. specialized measurement systems, neurorehabilitation systems) transfer their findings through the LIFE HUB into the HIS.
Not just individual findings – combined evaluations from measurement values, questionnaires, scores, and multi-week progression data are also transferred as a structured dataset.
HL7, GDT, FHIR, IHE XDS – the KIS Connector speaks the language of the target system. No vendor lock-in, no restriction to specific HIS manufacturers.
Findings, progress reports, and therapy results from the LIFE HUB are entered directly into the patient's electronic record – complete and structured.
Transfer Content
What the KIS Connector transmits
The LIFE HUB does not just transfer simple measurement values – it transmits fully prepared, contextualized results in the depth and breadth that the clinical context demands.
Device Findings
Measurement results from diagnostic devices without a native HIS interface – e.g. specialized neurorehabilitation measurement systems, cardio diagnostics, gait analysis systems – are normalized and transferred as structured findings.
Therapy Progressions
Longitudinal data spanning several weeks or months – how has a parameter, score, or functional measure developed over the treatment period? As a time series, a progression finding, or an aggregated final report.
Questionnaire Results
Subjective parameters collected via Smart Forms – pain scales, quality-of-life questionnaires, well-being assessments, functional status surveys – are transmitted as coded FHIR resources or HL7 messages to the HIS.
Scores & Combined Indices
Composite scores calculated in the LIFE HUB, reference value classifications, and model results – transferred in a structured and normalized format so the HIS system can process, display, and forward them.
Test Battery Results
Check-ups and test batteries combining multiple assessment methods – strength, endurance, cognition, mobility – are transferred as a consolidated document with all individual results structured into the HIS or electronic patient record.
Periodic Status Reports
Automated transfer at defined time points – e.g. weekly progress reports during a rehabilitation phase or monthly evaluations as part of a long-term monitoring program.
Use Cases
KIS Connector in clinical practice
Hospital – Device without HIS interface
A neurorehabilitation device delivers detailed motion and strength data but has no native HIS connection. The Datico® LIFE HUB receives the raw data, evaluates it, and transfers the structured finding via HL7 into the HIS – fully documented in the patient record.
Rehab Clinic – Weekly report to the ePA
Each week, the LIFE HUB automatically generates a structured progress report for each rehabilitation patient – from therapist measurements, wearable data, and questionnaire responses. This report is entered directly into the electronic patient record.
Diagnostic Centre – Check-up results
A check-up combines cardio diagnostics, strength measurement, cognitive testing, and a questionnaire. The LIFE HUB consolidates all results, calculates the check-up score, and transfers the complete document to the physician information system of the referring doctor.
Study Centre – Measurement time point transfer
For each participant, after measurement time points t1/t2/t3, all result values are automatically transferred to the study management system – normalized, pseudonymized, and in the format of the study protocol.
Feature Set
What the KIS Connector (output) offers
INTEROPERABILITY PLATFORM
Devices and systems without a native HIS interface transfer their data through the LIFE HUB – including normalization, enrichment, and structured forwarding.
STANDARD PROTOCOLS
HL7 v2/v3, GDT/EDT, HL7 FHIR R4, IHE XDS – the KIS Connector supports common interoperability standards and adapts to the target system.
COMBINED EVALUATIONS
Not just individual values – the connector transfers fully combined results from measurement values, scores, questionnaire responses, and progression data as a unified dataset.
AUTOMATED & SCHEDULED
Transfers can be configured event-based (after completion of an event) or time-scheduled (weekly, monthly) – without manual intervention.
ELECTRONIC PATIENT RECORD (ePA)
Findings, therapy progressions, and reports are entered in a structured manner into the ePA – fully documented and accessible to all authorized clinicians.
GDPR-COMPLIANT & SECURE
All transfers are encrypted, logged, and GDPR-compliant. The audit trail documents every transfer operation without gaps.
