Datico® is not a product built in an ivory tower. It is the answer to a problem Markus Stadler observed over more than two decades in the field – and one he was determined to solve with the right partner.
THE GAP
The data was there. The overview was not.
Markus Stadler knew the problem intimately. As the person who built up the German and Swiss subsidiaries of COSMED – the Italian manufacturer of respiratory gas analysis systems – and previously in senior roles at HP Kosmos, he had accompanied performance technology into sports facilities, clinics and rehabilitation centres across Europe.
Time and again he encountered the same situation: the data existed – but it remained siloed. Every device spoke its own language; every discipline maintained its own data mountain. A holistic view of the individual – their performance, their health status, their development – was almost impossible to obtain. Sound decisions required enormous manual effort.
The idea for a shared platform matured over years. That it would need to become an independent company was clear from the start. What was missing was the right technical partner.
THE ENCOUNTER
Field expertise meets platform architecture.
In 2019, Markus Stadler met Christian Ehrenschwendtner – who had just sold his software company New Solutions. Ehrenschwendtner brought something rare to the table: deep development expertise rooted in the automotive industry, combined with proven experience building cloud platforms at scale – and an experienced team that had walked that path alongside him.
The two quickly recognised that their backgrounds were complementary: one bringing domain knowledge and field access, the other contributing architectural depth and scalability experience. That same year they co-founded Datico Sport & Health GmbH, headquartered in Burghausen, Bavaria.
THE TEAM

During the build-up phase, Gregor Gretz joined the team – a former key member of Christian's staff and today Datico®'s software architect and the technical creative force behind the platform architecture. His personal passion for marathon running sharpens his eye for the real-world requirements: he understands from experience what athletes, physicians and researchers actually need – and what data must deliver at the moment it matters.

The founding idea has become a modular, cloud-based platform: the Datico® LIFE HUB. It connects data from diagnostic devices, laboratory systems, wearables, training systems and individual forms – analyses it, contextualises it and delivers it where decisions are made.
For clinics, elite sports centres, first responders and research institutions. Developed and hosted in Germany. GDPR-compliant. With the ambition to deliver B2B solutions in this space that are truly unique.
